Radon protection - Recommendations by the Health Protection Agency

Recommendations made by the Health Protection Agency in respect of limiting human exposure to Radon for inclusion in future revisions of Building Regulations:
  • The action levels are likely to apply to non-domestic buildings with a public occupancy of more than 2000 hours per year (including schools);
  • The guidance to be extended to cover all new buildings, extensions, conversions and refurbished existing buildings in the UK such that they should have basic radon protective measures as standard;
  • The guidance to be extended for buildings requiring full radon protection such that they will need a radon test within the first year of occupation.
